File Format and Streaming Support in doubleTwist Pro v3 and CloudPlayer

  1. Local/Cloud playback.

    doubleTwist Pro v3 & CloudPlayer supports a wide range of file formats for playback on the device. These file formats include:

    1. MP3
    2. AAC/M4A (Apple's default iTunes format)
    3. ALAC/M4A (Apple Lossless)
    4. WAV
    5. Ogg Vorbis
    6. Ogg Opus*
    7. WMA**
    8. FLAC
    9. DTS (in WAV/FLAC container)
    10. DSD***
    11. Magic Radio (streaming radio feature)
    * Opus Note: The .opus extension is not recognized locally by Android so please use the .ogg extension if you want automatic local support. The .opus extension is recognized when importing from a cloud account or if you use the "Scan Local Folder" option to scan a specific directory.

    ** WMA Note: The WMA format is not natively supported by Android so it is not indexed normally by the Android Media Scan service. Certain manufacturers like Samsung have modified their versions of Android so it will index WMA files. On these devices, WMA files will appear in the local library. Otherwise, on all other devices, WMA files will only appear when indexed from a cloud account or if you use the "Scan Local Folder" option to scan a specific directory.

    *** DSD Note: The .dsf extension is not recognized locally by Android so please use the "Scan Local Folder" option to scan a specific directory to add files to the library. The .dsf extension is recognized when importing from a cloud account.

  2. Airplay.

    For streaming to the Apple TV or any other Airplay compatible device, the following file formats are supported:

    1. MP3
    2. AAC/M4A (Apple's default iTunes format)
    3. ALAC/M4A (Apple Lossless)
    4. WAV
    5. Ogg Vorbis
    6. Ogg Opus*
    7. WMA**
    8. FLAC****
    9. DTS (in WAV/FLAC container)
    10. DSD***

  3. Chromecast.

    For streaming to the Google Chromecast, the following file formats are supported:

    1. MP3
    2. AAC/M4A (Apple's default iTunes format)
    3. WAV
    4. Ogg Vorbis
    5. Ogg Opus*
    6. FLAC
    7. Magic Radio (streaming radio feature)
    The Chromecast will natively support most FLAC formats including 24-bit and 192kHz files.

    * Opus Note: The .opus extension is not recognized locally by Android so please use the .ogg extension if you want automatic local support. The .opus extension is recognized when importing from a cloud account or if you use the "Scan Local Folder" option to scan a specific directory.
