Known Issues for doubleTwist Sync

This is a list of known issues for doubleTwist Sync. Items are added or removed as needed so the numbering of each item may be different when this happens.

    1. AirSync is still active if you connect your device to your PC so you may see two devices in the interface.

    1. If you are in the middle of an AirSync session, please do not plug in a USB cable to charge your device. While this usually will not cause any problems, it's not recommended. Please attach the USB cable first before starting an AirSync session or complete the current AirSync session before attaching a USB cable.

    1. For dual storage devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 or Galaxy S5:

      1. After switching storage locations, if files are not removed from the location no longer used, it can cause syncing and importing problems. The workaround is to erase all files from the location no longer being used after switching storage locations in doubleTwist Player. You can use a file manager such as Astro or ES File Manager to erase the appropriate folder (Music, Video, etc.).
      2. Sometimes both storage locations are detected by doubleTwist Sync so you may see two devices in the interface when connected using USB MTP. (Or three instances if AirSync is also active.
      3. The free space/usage display may be incorrect as sometimes, doubleTwist Sync combines information from both internal and external storage in the display.
    2. It's recommended that you use only one sync method for each device. For example, if you sync using USB MTP, it's best to continue using USB MTP and not use AirSync. Sync settings for each device are stored separately in USB and AirSync mode. So if you sync using USB and then connect using AirSync, doubleTwist Sync might not remember your sync settings so you will have to select them again. But the files will not be synced again. Also, files on the device might appear to be imported but no files are actually transferred back to your computer. This sync and importing behavior will not persist in subsequent syncs.

    1. Smart Playlists from iTunes can be synced to your device but because these are smart playlists controlled by iTunes, changes made on the device to these playlists can not be reversed-synced back to iTunes. Currently an error will occur if you try to reverse sync any changes to these Smart Playlists back to iTunes.

    1. Duplicate items in iTunes playlists are ignored and will not be imported into doubleTwist Sync or synced to your device. There are no immediate plans to support duplicate items in playlists.

    1. iTunes playlist folders are not supported at this time. This feature is something the QA/Dev team is investigating for the future roadmap.

    1. Slashes and colons in iTunes playlist names are not properly supported at this time. Please rename these playlists before trying to sync them to your Android device.

    1. If you make metadata (artist/album name, etc.) changes to the iTunes media library but doubleTwist Sync is not importing these changes, please quit and restart doubleTwist Sync.

    1. If you delete items from iTunes, doubleTwist Sync's album/artist/genre sync selection interface is not currently updated so you will get errors if the sync selections still include any deleted items. To resolve this issue, you will have to reset the library database.

  1. In our testing of various devices, we have seen devices drop into a state where the device becomes unavailable to Windows over USB MTP and can not be browsed. This will cause doubleTwist Sync to fail as the device must be available/browsable in Windows to be compatible with doubleTwist Sync when syncing using a USB cable. If this happens, please restart your device and computer as this usually resolves this problem.

If you encounter what you believe to be a bug that isn't listed here, please include as much information as possible in your bug report.

  1. Type of device and Android version. Also please indicate if you are using a stock carrier ROM or a custom ROM (please identify which custom ROM).
  2. Operating system and service pack level if known.
  3. USB or AirSync wireless syncing if it's a sync related problem.
  4. Steps that can be taken to reproduce the bug along with any error messages encountered.

You can generate logs from doubleTwist Sync by holding down SHIFT as you right-click on the doubleTwist icon.
